Problem solving

Our teachers learnt lots of new things to help us in maths yesterday at the teacher training day. Today we are trying to do some problem solving that our teachers looked at yesterday - we had fun pinching other peoples ideas! We enjoyed trying to work it out and we would love to keep trying at home! Do you think you could work it out, mummys and daddys? It'd be great if you could show us how you'd try and solve it?

  1. Abbie and I solved this problem using game counters. We worked out how many counters were in the top, second, third and bottom rows so that when we moved the counter from the point of the triangle to the opposite side we could see where there were too many or too few counters in the rows.

    1. Well done Abbie and Kelly! That sounded like a great strategy.

  2. Daniel and Mum used some 21st century problem solving skills to work this one out :) We had some fun looking for the problem and what to type in google to help out.

  3. Graeme (Aimee's Dad) and Aimee started looking at this tonight with bottle tops. Always move the counters from the end of the row of four to make another row of four where the row of two are. Then move the single pointer, to the opposite end to make the pointer on the triangle............

I worked it out with daddy. I had fun. by Aimee
