It has been another great day for our poetry writing. We talked about the types of food that rot and can go to waste and we decided it was fresh food and vegetables. Keeping the amount of food we throw away to a small amount is called reducing your foodprint. Please enjoy a few of our poems below. We will be publishing all of them into our poetry book tomorrow so please come and have a look when you have a chance. Sorry there are no photos today - we promise to blog again soon with some pictures.
My favourite food by Jonty
I like apples.
You can eat it lots of ways.
You can cut it.
You can cook it.
You can make a pie, or even eat it in the toilet!
But remember to eat fruit first to keep your foodprint small!
Jonty did a good job of including some humour in his poem.
My favourite food by Liam
I like apples.
You can eat it lots of ways.
You can cut it.
You can mash it.
You can make apple pie, or even eat it in the thunder.
But remember to only pick what you need to keep your foodprint small!
Can you tell Liam is our resident gardener?
My favourite food by Duncan
I like bananas.
You can eat it lots of ways.
You can cut it.
You can fry it.
You can mash it, or even stew it.
But remember to eat your fruit first to keep your foodprint small!
Stewed bananas sound rather tasty, Duncan. It would probably be yummy with icecream.
My favourite food by Maddy
I like mandarins.
You can eat it lots of ways.
You can chomp it.
You can squeeze it.
You can chop it or even eat it in the rain.
But remember to buy what you need to keep your foodprint small!
We liked the wonderful describing words Maddy chose for her poem.
My favourite food by Joshua
I like apples.
You can eat it lots of ways.
You can cut it in two.
You can freeze it in the freezer.
You can make an apple cake or even eat it on the roof!
But remember to eat your fruit first to keep your foodprint small!
Josh had so many ideas for his poem he had a hard time choosing what to use!
My favourite food by Kane
I like feijoas.
You can eat it lots of ways.
You can scoop it.
You can cut it.
You can fry it or even eat it in a shark!
But remember to get what you need to keep your foodprint small!
A shark would probably love having Kane eating his feijoas in his tummy!
My favourite food by Tessa
I like strawberries.
Cut strawberries.
Little strawberries.
Big strawberries
I like all strawberries!
Tessa has used lots of describing words to write this fantastic list poem.
Being a good citizen roleplays
This afternoon, we got ourselves into our own groups and decided what quality of a good citizen we were going to demonstrate. We had a few minutes to create our play and we performed it to the rest of the class. Mrs Coombes couldn't have been prouder of how well we worked with our groups and the wonderful way every single one of us participated fully. Of course, Mrs Coombes had to put a marble in the jar. Way to go, Tuatara!
Thank you for reading our blog again. What else would you like us to write about in our blog?
Fantastic poems, well done. From jontys mum

DeleteGreat poems Tuatara room! Glad to see you're all learning about keeping your foodprint small! I agree with Kane - my favourite fruit is Feijoa.
