ASB GetWise Programme - learning about money

Today Vanepale from the ASB came to teach us about money. Vane was very cool! Secretly he is Captain Cashtastic and he gave us superhero lessons.
We had to order money from smallest to biggest.
We had to practise our superhero poses!
We learnt that:
NEEDS are the things that we need to survive - food, water, shelter.
WANTS are things that are fun to have, but we don't need them to survive - iPads, bikes, toys.

Captain Cash taught us a saying:
Speed to your needs. Wait for your wants.

Needs are the most important, so spend money on these first.

We all passed our training and got a superhero wristband.

Kitchen Science in the Library

This week we explored the 500-509's in the library. This is the Science section.

Mrs Davidson and two class scientists (Emma and James) completed some kitchen experiments.

We mixed white vinegar and baking soda to create a gas. The gas blew up a balloon!

The reaction gave Emma a big fright!

We did two more experiments which were GREAT fun - ask us about them!!
