Our trip to Wellington. We had morning tea at the playground and then we walked to Circa Theatre. We saw Red Riding Hood and it was super fun. After it finished we went back to the park for lunch and we had another play on the playground. We got back to school just after 3 o clock and some people went to sleep on the bus. It was a great day!

Today we are very lucky. We have Andrew's Mum and Kristina and Elisa's Mum helping us. We made some yummy pikelets and all had one to eat. Look at the photos of other things we were doing in Discovery today.
Sammie is using the fuzzy felts.
Mrs Cordner is helping make little dolls.
Tom is using the hammer and nails.
Jasper is making a movie.

Manu taratahi design
We are designing manu. Flying Manu is one of the ways Matariki is celebrated.
Some Manu have very pretty Māori patterns on them - Abigail
They were sometimes built for someone to fly in - Sammie
Manu are made out of raupō, and string and toetoe - Andrew
Some of them were for sending messages - McKenna
People sent the Manu to see if anyone was coming to attack them - Jasper and Ben
They are triangle shaped (taratahi) - Elisa
Manu taratahi are triangular kites - Jake
Manu were sometimes used if someone was trapped in a fight to escape - Ysabellah
Chiefs used Manu to find new places - Hunter.
We are going to collect the following materials to create the Manu we have designed:
String
Harakeke (flax)
Paua shell pieces
Feathers
Toetoe.
If you have any of these things at home that we can use, we'd really appreciate it 😀
